Pearls
Picture any "classy dame" from a black-and-white film to the hottest fashionista on the red carpet today, and they have one thing in common: pearls. Classic and fashion forward, pearls stand the test of time. They are cherished symbols of purity and perfection. And a good investment.
Here's a little pearl of wisdom: Because natural pearls are very rare, most pearls found in fine jewelry are usually cultured. Cultured pearls are grown in mollusks — along with a little human intervention which causes the pearls to grow. Value is based on its size (usually stated in millimeters) and the quality of the nacre coating — which gives the pearl its luster. Color, blemish, type, and shape also play a part in value.
Pearls are the ultimate accessory. You really have to have a strand. Or two.
